Root Canal Treatment
Painless root canal treatment with rotary systems at Emrivadent Antalya. Same-day appointments available.
Root canal treatment (endodontics) is the procedure in which the infected dental pulp (nerve-vascular bundle) resulting from advanced decay or fracture is cleaned, disinfected and filled. Painless root canal treatment is performed at Emrivadent using rotary NiTi systems and magnification devices.
Why Is Root Canal Treatment Necessary?
When tooth decay reaches the pulp or the pulp is damaged by trauma, bacterial growth begins. If left untreated, it leads to apical abscess, jawbone resorption and systemic infection risk. Root canal treatment allows the tooth to be saved without extraction.
Root Canal Treatment Steps
- X-ray and diagnosis: Root length and infection area are determined with a periapical X-ray.
- Anaesthesia: Local anaesthesia ensures a pain-free environment.
- Pulp removal (pulpectomy): Infected pulp tissue is cleaned with rotary files.
- Disinfection: Bacteria are eliminated with sodium hypochlorite irrigation.
- Canal filling (obturation): The canal is filled with gutta-percha and root canal sealer.
- Restoration: The tooth is restored with a filling or crown.
Technologies Used in Root Canal Treatment
- Rotary NiTi files: 50% faster and safer shaping compared to manual files
- Apex locator: Electronically measures root length, reducing unnecessary X-rays
- Ultrasonic irrigation: Disinfection reaching deep into the canal
- Microscope/loupe: Precise work with 16–25× magnification
After Root Canal Treatment
- Mild sensitivity for 24–48 hours after the procedure is normal
- A painkiller (ibuprofen) is sufficient; antibiotics are not required in every case
- Protecting the tooth with a zirconia crown against fracture is recommended
- A follow-up X-ray is taken 6 months later
