No. The implant procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so no pain is felt during the procedure. Mild sensitivity and swelling may occur for 24–48 hours afterwards, which is easily managed with a painkiller.
With proper oral hygiene and regular check-ups, the titanium implant screw can last a lifetime. The zirconia crown on top has a lifespan of 15–20 years.
Anyone aged 18 or over with adequate bone density and controlled systemic disease is a candidate. Uncontrolled diabetes, osteoporosis or active smoking can complicate treatment; these are evaluated individually at the clinic.
