Dental Implant

A dental implant is a permanent tooth replacement solution that provides the closest aesthetic and functional result to a natural tooth, using a titanium screw placed in the socket of the missing tooth. Emrivadent Dental Clinic offers internationally standardised implant procedures in Antalya.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant consists of a titanium screw surgically placed in the jawbone and a porcelain or zirconia crown attached on top. Because titanium is biocompatible, it fuses with the bone tissue (osseointegration) to form a stable root.

How Is a Dental Implant Placed?

  1. Examination and planning: The jawbone is evaluated with a panoramic X-ray and 3D CT scan.
  2. Implant placement: The titanium screw is inserted into the jaw under local anaesthesia (15–30 min).
  3. Osseointegration: Bone fusion with the implant takes 6–12 weeks.
  4. Temporary crown: A temporary crown may be fitted during the healing period.
  5. Permanent crown: Once fusion is complete, a zirconia or porcelain crown is screwed in place.

No. The implant procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so no pain is felt during the procedure. Mild sensitivity and swelling may occur for 24–48 hours afterwards, which is easily managed with a painkiller.
With proper oral hygiene and regular check-ups, the titanium implant screw can last a lifetime. The zirconia crown on top has a lifespan of 15–20 years.
Anyone aged 18 or over with adequate bone density and controlled systemic disease is a candidate. Uncontrolled diabetes, osteoporosis or active smoking can complicate treatment; these are evaluated individually at the clinic.
A single-tooth implant typically requires 2–3 sessions: implant placement, osseointegration review and crown placement. With All-on-4 / All-on-6, temporary teeth are fitted on the same day, and the permanent zirconia prosthesis is screwed in 3–6 months later.
In terms of function and aesthetics, an implant is 98% similar to a natural tooth. The difference: the implant contains no nerve (no heat/pain sensation) and periodic gum checks become even more important.
